Survival Check List: The Ultimate Guide
December 21, 2022

Are you prepared? We’re all familiar with the saying “Chance favors the well prepared.” Don’t worry, that’s why we’re here to bring you the top essentials you need for a survival checklist. If you have everything on this list, you are sure to be prepared for anything.

The first step is to create a room or storage unit to hold all your survival essentials. This can either be an extra room in your home for easy access, or a shed or garage space on your property.

Food Storage

In an emergency situation where you cannot access food from supermarkets or your local grocery it is important to have a back-up plan. We recommend having a variation of canned foods including black beans, pinto beans, peaches, potatoes, sardines, tuna, beets, fillets tomatoes and pineapple. Jarred food such as crab, sauerkraut, apple sauce and more. You can purchase these for storage or you can even make them yourself with a food canning system. Although the latter option may take more time and effort, it is a very rewarding activity once you master it. In addition to canned and jarred food, we also recommend storing up on some pasta and jarred sauces.

The key here is to store foods that have a long shelf life so that you can keep them stored away for long periods of time without a refrigerator and without the worry of them going bad. Also note that despite their long shelf life, all these products will still have an expiration date. So it is important you keep track of the expiration date and check your storage every few months to dispose of and replace products that have gone bad.

Water Filteration

If we can survive without food for 8 to 21 days, we can only survive without water for 3 days. So it is clear how important it is to have drinkable water in the case of an emergency. Whether your home has a water filtration system that allows you to drink tap, or you purchase bottled water regularly, in an emergency situation it is highly likely that you will not have access to either. You can fill up your storage room with liters of bottled water, but in case they run out you should always have a water filter available. You can find many different variations of water filteration straws, water bottles, pitchers and more online.

Generators

In emergency situations, you will not have access to running power or electricity. Therefore it is important to have some independent form of electricity provider. The perfect solution to this is a generator. There are different types, some run on diesel and petrol, while others run on solar power energy. Make sure to purchase a battery with these generators so that you can keep energy stored for later use.
